13 Goals for 2013(Revisited)
- Run 1,000 miles this year
(In Progress.) I'm currently at 480 of 1000 miles, not quite halfway there. I am behind where I'd hoped to be at this point but still confident I can make it by New Year's Eve - even if it means running some champagne miles before midnight.
Increase my run speed and beat my original half-marathon time of 2:47:54
Check! In April I completed my 3rd half-marathon and recorded my fastest time yet: 2:28:40! That is almost 20 minutes faster than my first half-marathon less than 6 months prior. I worked my ass off all winter and am so proud to have reached this goal. I'm hoping to continue my success in the fall at the Philadelphia half.
Run 3 half-marathons in 90 days
Check! I completed 3 half-marathons in 3 different states (NC, SC, VA) within 71 days and qualified as a member of Half Fanatics (#4445) at the Neptune level. I am really excited to be among the fanatics and can't wait to earn some more moons!
- Run a 5k without taking walk breaks
(In Progress.) Technically this is a check because I can absolutely run a non-stop 5k now but I am going to wait to check it off my list until I make it official in a race!
Volunteer for at least 2 races
Check! You may remember that I spent my one-year race-iversary volunteering for the RunRaleigh Half Marathon in April. I also had the amazing experience of volunteering at a water stop during the inaugural Raleigh Ironman 70.3 event. It doesn't stop there, either. I am already looking toward the fall and other opportunities to give back to local races!
- Go to bed earlier/sleep more
Introduce regular yoga & strength training sessions to my workout routine
(Ongoing, but Check!) I've been attending a free yoga class at Lululemon every Sunday and it has brought me some peace and clarity. I also completed my first round of Tina Reale's Best Body Bootcamp and just signed up for another round. She has made strength training fun for me!
- Do a Warrior Dash or other challenging mud run
(Needs improvement.) I don't have anything scheduled but I am keeping my options open. This may have to wait until 2014.
- Reduce my body fat by 10%
- Blog more consistently (at least 1x per week)
- Create an "About Me" page on my blog
Post my before and during pictures on my blog
- Run 13 different races in 2013
(In progress.) So far this year I have run one 5k, one 10k and 4 half-marathons. I have another 5k, a 5-miler and two half-marathons on my fall schedule and have my eye on a couple of other races too.
So there you have it. I definitely have room to improve but I'm extremely proud of what I have accomplished thus far in 2013. I find it hilarious that the "easy" goals like blogging more, sleeping more etc. are still not completed but the seemingly ridiculous running goals were the first to get crossed off my list! I guess that's just the way I am.How are you doing with your goals and resolutions? What's been your biggest obstacle so far?
